Kitty Thomas

KLT’s founder Kitty Thomas is known by nonprofit leaders, policymakers and funders as a communications partner who understands how to craft powerful messaging, build effective teams and manage organizational change.

Her work draws on her experience serving as communications director for U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, vice president of external affairs at The Wilderness Society, and executive director of The Wilderness Society Action Fund.

Kitty's leadership has been critical to protecting millions of acres of public lands, and to securing big policy wins for climate, conservation, and government ethics and accountability.

During her tenure at The Wilderness Society, Kitty shaped the organization’s advocacy messaging and led its work on diversity, equity, and inclusion. She led work to generate an activist response rate that tripled the industry benchmark and set a new record for revenue generation. Kitty also built electoral strategies at The Wilderness Society Action Fund, launched its PAC, and oversaw all programmatic and fundraising work.
